Politics is complicated. Explaining it shouldn’t be.

I'm a 26-year-old political enthusiast with a simple idea: politics shouldn't be this difficult to understand.

Politics affects all of us. It affects our money, our homes, our jobs, our families and the communities we live in. Yet the language used to explain it can often feel complicated, formal and, frankly, a little bit too Oxford.

There's an endless stream of political phrases, policies, statistics and arguments thrown at us, and it can be difficult to work out what any of it actually means.

That's where Sam Streamlined comes in.

I created Sam Streamlined to make politics easier for the average person to understand. No unnecessary jargon. No assumption that you already know how Westminster works. Just straightforward explanations of what is happening, why it matters and what it could mean for you.

Because I believe the simpler politics is to understand, the more people can have a say in it.

I'm not a politician, and I'm not here to tell you what to think.

I'm just a normal working bloke from an ordinary background who takes a genuine interest in politics and believes more people should feel confident enough to get involved.

I'm not currently a member of any political party. I have my own opinions, and you'll see those opinions across the site, but I'll always aim to make it clear when you're reading an explanation of the facts and when you're reading my personal view.

Sam Streamlined isn't about convincing you to agree with me.

It's about giving you the information to make up your own mind.

Politics can sometimes feel like something that belongs to politicians, journalists and people who already understand the system.

It doesn't.

It belongs to all of us.

You shouldn't need to understand every political term, know every Westminster convention or follow politics every day to have an informed opinion.

If Sam Streamlined can make even one person think, "Actually, I understand that now," and give them the confidence to have their say, then it's doing what I set out to achieve.
